live f1

Rockingham motor track was constructed in 2001. It was Britain's very first oval track built purposefully since Brooklands opened back in 1907. It was built to provide entertainment for all seasons for residents of Berkshire. The speedway was opened to the public in 2001 after years of planning and construction. It can seat approximately 130,000 people and has 36 pit garages. Queen Elizabeth II opened the venue in 2001. It is still going strong today.

Rockingham was Britain's first full-sized oval speedway

Rockingham Motor Speedway, built on an abandoned British steelworks site, was the first purpose-built circuit to be built in Britain since Brooklands' 1907. Rockingham Motor Speedway's oval shape attracted the US CART Champ Car World Series, who used it to create 13 track layouts. The track hosted American stock car racing from 2001 to 2007. It was known as ASCAR or Days of Thunder.

Rockingham Motor Speedway was built in Corby (northern England) in 2001. It is the first purpose-built oval racing circuit in Britain since Brooklands in 1907. It is the first track in Britain to feature full-size oval racing. The track's three mile oval, measuring 121 hectares, was originally planned as a European hub for American-style oval-racing. The speedway was sold in recent years and the former site is being converted into service offices.

It was Britain’s first purpose-built oval track, since Brooklands in 1906.

Despite its resemblance to a small oval circuit, Rockingham Motor Speedway was built on the site of a disused steelworks in 2001 and opened as Britain's first purpose-built oval track in more than a century. The track's modest size and brief history attracted international attention, despite the fact that it was relatively new.

It was a year-round entertainment facility

A decade ago, Rockingham Motor Speedway was not making much money. NASCAR has suffered from dwindling fan attendance and viewership as its support series have failed to draw large crowds on standalone weekends. The Speedway is located only one hour and a tenth from major cities, but is too close by the crown jewels NASCAR. Rockingham's proximity of other NASCAR venues made it unlikely that it would be a viable facility.

It has been sold

After the owner failed to reach his business goals, Rockingham Motor Speedway is being sold. BK Rock Holdings, the former owners of the track, bought it in May 2016 at a cost of $3 million. The track has been vacant since then and its new owners have bought it for just what they paid. The Raleigh motorsports scene will see a shift with the sale.

The track is 0.625m long and features a unique backstretch and frontstretch. The track is owned and operated by the Rockingham Motor Speedway and will host a race in September.
