William Byron is an American professional stock-car racer. He is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, which Hendrick Motorsports sponsors. He also takes part in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Byron has won two Cup Series races, as well as appearing in three postseason races.

A Hendrick Motorsports hauler carrying William Byron’s No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro caught flames near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Hendrick Motorsports' crew was quick to extinguish the flames. The car was reported to be unharmed but the hauler was an absolute loss.


The fire did not cause damage to William Byron’s Chevrolet, but the team will still need a backup hauler. However, the team is still planning to salvage the equipment from Byron's primary hauler. It isn't yet known what caused the fire. However, it is believed to be caused by a faulty generator.

William Byron is in a good position to have a big impact in the next year's Cup Series season with his two wins in 2022. Byron won the newly-reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway in March, and proved he was unbeatable on a tricky Martinsville track the following month. Byron has been improving his stats since his 2018 Rookie Year season. Despite falling short of the playoffs twice, he has accumulated nine top-10 finishes and is looking to build on that momentum in the coming season.
