The Chicagoland Speedway is 1.5-mile tri-oval speedway located in Joliet, Illinois. It opened for racing in 2001 and hosted NASCAR races until 2019. In 2019, it will host its final race. The track is still being constructed. For more information about the Speedway, please visit our article.

Construction of chicagoland's speedway

Chicagoland Speedway was built in fall 1999 and opened for racing in juin 2001. It features a tri-oval D-shaped track with four 18-degree banked turns, and an 11-degree banked forestretch. There's also a five degree banked banked backstretch.

The speedway is home to NASCAR events, including Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Truck Series races. The track also hosts a test for the Indy Lights series. Belardi Auto Racing topped the field in a recent test run at the Chicagoland Speedway.

Tamarack Construction was among the contractors that supported the Speedway project. They promoted their roles through contractor associations as well as through the Dodge report. Tamarack also has a residential division. Tamarack's HVAC contractor installed air conditioning throughout Tamarack’s facility, including the grandstand box boxes and media rooms at the infield. Split systems were also installed throughout the facility by the HVAC contractor.

Indy Racing League races held at chicagoland raceway

For many years, Chicagoland Speedway has been home to an IndyCar Series race. For many years the track hosted Delphi Indy 300, but it recently hosted the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 presented to Mr. Clean. It is the final race of the IRL schedule.

The Chicagoland Speedway's 1.5 mile tri-oval is located in Joliet. Raceway Associates, LLC, a partnership of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation, International Speedway Corporation, Route 66 Raceway and other companies, owns it. In addition to IndyCar races, Chicagoland will host NASCAR races in the Busch and Winston Cup Series. The track is slated to close in late 2020. The land will be developed for a warehouse complex.

Juan Pablo Montoya, a rookie, won the 225-lap race. He passed Nick Papis (a rookie) on lap 64. For a few laps, he drove a Target-sponsored car. It was a throwback to the old IndyCar era, with the car painted in the colors of the company. This race was the last for Target-sponsored Reynard. He will be retiring from open-wheel race after this season.

Future plans for chicagoland's speedway

The Chicagoland Speedway may be closing in the near future, but a new industrial complex that would surround it is planned. The speedway is slated to close on April 8 due to a lack of sponsorship. Although NASCAR maintained in March that it was not about selling tracks the deal, recent layoffs and cancellations have caused uncertainty about the track's future. NASCAR plans to make significant changes to the track in its efforts to save it. Hillwood Investments Partners is a Texas-based development company that will help make this process smooth.

One possibility is a street course that could host NASCAR events. The proposed street course would utilize the city's Grant Park and other downtown streets, including Michigan Avenue. It may prove difficult to bring NASCAR in Chicagoland. However, there are still prospects for the speedway. Joliet held meetings with NASCAR representatives to discuss the future of the speedway but no concrete plans have been made.
