NBC's TV Schedule 1985-1986

In 1985-86, NBC's TV schedule was dominated in sitcoms. During the season, NBC preempted regular Saturday programming six times. It also preempted four specials. One was a pre-empted NBC News White Paper with Jane Paulet. Another was Miss America 1985 Pageant. NBC did not always prioritize Saturday programming. They instead focused on dramas and sitcoms.

NBC's Thursday evening lineup was significantly more stable than its Saturday schedule. NBC, however, was unable overcome CBS's lineup for Thursday nights. The Dukes of Hazzard anchored CBS's lineup. The show had been renewed in its second season. The network also aired The Colbys, a spinoff of Dynasty, from November 20 to December 15.

NBC had two sitcoms in its 1985-1986 schedule. Both Spencer, starring Chad Lowe (starring Chad Lowe), and Hill Street Blues starring a bunch of teenage band mates (starring Hill Street Blues) were huge successes. From 8-9 PM, they ranked third. NBC also preempted the 20/20 program, which aired at 10PM to 11PM. These new shows are a significant improvement on CBS's Saturday and Friday lineups. Two movies were also preempted.

Magnum P.I. featured in CBS's Thursday night lineup. and The Love Boat. Bridges to Cross was also included in the show. It aired six episodes. Roddy McDowall and Eva Gabor were featured on the show. It was a critical darling. It was not as well-known as ABC's programs. It was also targeted for watchdog groups.

CBS also introduced Three in the Wild (a series about wild animal), to its lineup. It also aired The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk. ABC also aired Pink Panther and Sons. After six episodes, however, the series was cancelled. Although the series was a success, Emmy nominations did not go to the stars.

On Thursday nights, NBC also featured Night Court, Family Ties and The Cosby Show. It also included the new series Kidd Video, which followed the adventures of four teenage band mates trapped in another dimension. It also aired Snorks. This series followed the adventures and challenges of underwater creatures. Pink Panther and Sons also aired, which aired in 1984-1985.
