Daytona 500 race history

The history of the Daytona 500 race is fascinating. It's one among the oldest races in world. The race has a long history filled with successful drivers. The race began as a sprint car race but has since grown into a full-fledged stock car race. Darrell Wallace and Richard Childress were only two drivers to win the event in the 1960s from the pole. From the pole position, there have been many winners at Daytona 500.

Speedways of the 1960s, 1970s

Speedways' housing stock in the 1960s & 1970s was much smaller and less expensive than the average suburban home. The cost of a typical two-bedroom wood-frame house begins at eighty thousand dollars, while the price of an apartment complex starts at four million dollars. Speedways were once a major source for housing revenue. But, today, most residents blame the increase in rent and housing prices for the decline within their communities.
